Another very useful application for white light scanning is 1st
article inspection. Items that are difficult to hold or align on a CMM, and free form shaped objects are ideal for a
white light scan layout. This function is often used internally at B&J Specialty as well as an outsourced service.
An inspection report can be provided in PDF, PPT, or XLS format. An example is below.
 With our inspection software, Rapidform XOV Verifier, we
can provide you with a detailed inspection of your parts. In the example above (click on image to enlarge), dimensional
features are constrained with an existing CAD model. The corresponding scan of each part, or parts, is overlayed to
the CAD model and Rapidform XOV Verifier recreates the same dimensional checks and outputs the data in tabular form as shown
below (click on image to enlarge). You can easily reference the actual dimensions of the scanned part to the CAD data
and the color coding lets you know if you are within the expected tolerancing.
